Tamara D. McKeown has been an attorney in Miami, Florida since 1988, with a practice in civil, commercial, and complex commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and reorganization.

After several years’ experience in both large international and small boutique law firms, Tamara opened her own law practice, Tamara D. McKeown, P.A. in March 2003. She became “Of Counsel” to Geoffrey S. Aaronson, P.A. in October 2007 and then became “Of Counsel” to Aaronson Schantz, P.A. upon the firm’s foundation in March 2011.

Tamara specializes in bankruptcy and reorganizations for companies and high net worth individuals, and all phases of civil, commercial, and complex commercial litigation in state and federal court, including commercial and contract disputes, business failure litigation, professional liability, director and officer liability, commercial lender litigation, employment litigation, insurance coverage disputes, personal injury litigation, and bankruptcy adversary litigation. She has been AV-rated with Martindale-Hubbell since 2002.

She received her J.D. with honors from Florida State University in 1988 and Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Mass Communications from the University of South Florida, where she participated in an experimental Honors Program and earned Dean’s List honors.

She was a member of the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law at Florida State University and a reporter for The Oracle, the student newspaper at the University of South Florida. Tamara is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Professionally, Tamara is a member of the Dade County Bar Association, the Bankruptcy Bar Association of the Southern District of Florida, and The Florida Bar. She is also an active member of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Miami-Dade County board, and even served as a Board member from 2004-2008, and President in 2007.

Tamara also serves on the Board of Trustees of the South Florida National Parks Trust, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization established in 2002 as the primary fundraising partner for South Florida’s four national parks: Everglades, Biscayne and Dry Tortugas National Parks, and Big Cypress National Preserve.
